The other day I sat down in front of the computer to do something of vital importance (that I can’t remember) like pay a bill or register one of the Things in a fall activity or check out the fall boots at Zappos, and 30 (75) minutes later had produced this – It’s the DVR […]

Listen. Do you hear that? You don’t? Me either!!My house is quiet! Free of showtunes and Taylor Swift and One Direction and sister-bickering and the poke-me-in-the-eardrums-with-chopsticks-now-please insanely obnoxious voices of every singing star that now has their own Disney Channel or Nickelodeon show! Pour mama a mimosa and ready the napping couch! Nah, not really […]

  • Nikki - Oh, I”m excited to go read through your blog (and back to your fist post..happy 6 months btw!). Just came over here from Taylor’s (Tayor hehe) blog and I just love your me schedule. I’m a teacher (not a Mom..yet) and I loved my me days during the summer when my hubby was at work and I got to stay home. I just wish I could watch Live with Kelly over here! (I’m living in Croatia now)…I miss her!ReplyCancel

  • Erin - At least you had a few wonderful hours of peace. It kind of sounds like it was the perfect day. I’m a huge fan of your workout too! Bachelor Pad + squats = it should feel like you burned more than you did just from laughing! If you get a sec, I’d love to hear your thoughts on my latest posts!

  • The Management - I really, really enjoyed this post. You’re funny.

It’s sooo cute that you make your girls number pancakes and first day of school cupcakes. And I envy your napping couch, AND I’m totally in favour of just a few squats and then calling it good.

    Go you.

6 months and 3 days ago I was bored. 6 months and 2 days ago I was doing laundry and mopping the floors cruising Pinterest and discovered a link to a blog where the author had posted step-by-step video instructions on how she curled her hair plus literally hundreds of photos of herself in Forever 21 […]

  • JKT - LOVED reading this ๐Ÿ™‚ Happy 6 months! I’m a new-ish follower but yours has quickly become one of my ‘daily reads’- LOVE IT.

It’s been about 3 months for me and I absolutely am enjoying every minute of it.

  • meet.make.laugh. - Yay!! Happy 6 months! We started around the same time…. and though we view it more as a hobby it would definitely be fun to have the capacity to have it as a business.ReplyCancel

  • Jennie - Happy 6 months! I’ve been ’round these parts for 2 years with I think 5-600 posts under my belt…it still isn’t old. ๐Ÿ™‚ReplyCancel

It was bound to happen. I tried, but I couldn’t stop it. It’s the last Friday of the summer. So to honor it and celebrate it (instead of screaming and kicking and throwing a wine-induced tantrum like I’d like to do), I’ve decided to devote this week’s edition of the Friday Faves to a collection […]

  • Kayla Lynn - awesome photos of an incredible summer! cheers to new adventures in fall ๐Ÿ™‚ReplyCancel

So I found this ecard on (where else) Pinterest last week, and it reminded me, yet again, about how idiotic grammar (and spelling) mistakes are one of my life’s biggest pet peeves. Now, I don’t profess to be anywhere near perfect when it comes to grammar, spelling, sentence construction and punctuation (Husband would like to […]

  • Kayla Lynn - Hahaha I LOVE THIS!! Amen sister ๐Ÿ™‚ReplyCancel

  • ~Dawn~ - I laugh hysterically at this because my husband is by far the WORST at spelling and grammer. I think he has violated every single one of your grammer/spelling pet peeves.ReplyCancel

  • Rachel - For some reason, I’m not too annoyed by the error-filled English, though I notice it, for sure! And last year, when I had a job grading papers for college seniors, I was a bit horrified and how much they didn’t know about grammar and spelling. Still, I had fun with red ink, and I thought grading was the best job in the world! Because in that situation I was allowed to point out everything that’s wrong with the way people write. But in normal life I just mentally correct them or ignore them–for most of my life, most of my friends haven’t been native English speakers (even my husband isn’t a native English speaker!) so I guess my attitude towards them kind of extends to native, but ignorant, English speakers. ๐Ÿ˜›ReplyCancel

  • Kari - your to funny. defanitely a good post you wrote over their!
I’m with you sister. Teaching 8th grade has been amazing…and by “amazing”, I mean scary. Wish me luck!

  • - The word that really makes me angry at the moment with the ‘youth of today’ (arrgghhh I’m old,) is the constant use of ‘ov’ in replace of the word ‘of’. Why? It doesn’t make sense. It is not spelt correctly, it does not abbreviate the word in any way. All it achieves is the confirmation that you are failing English. Big time.ReplyCancel

You know that game people play &/or the classic question that probably everybody that has ever written a college application essay has had to answer? “If you could have dinner with 3 people – living or dead – who would it be?” The other day as I was driving around running my very important errands […]

  • Sarah - Okay, 3 is much too small a number… haha, but I would invite:
    1. Jim Parsons- from the Big Bang Theory. I love him. the end.
    2. James Lafferty- from One Tree Hill. He’s hot. haha ๐Ÿ™‚
    3. Adam Brody- if he’s anything in real life like he was on the O.C., I will love him forever.

and if I had to throw a girl in there, it’d be Rachel Bilson. I love her. and her style. and her tv shows.

this was such a cute idea for a post!ReplyCancel

  • Carolyn - OH MAN! Can I please oh please oh please come to this dinner?!?!?! I don’t even need to sit at the table. I’ll hover in the corner and giggle. Can you imagine how much laughing would happen!?!??!?!? Jeeze. ๐Ÿ™‚ Good choices!!ReplyCancel

  • Bridget - I am in the same boat that I would be torn between celebreties!! ELLEN..#1 choice!!! Who wouldn’t want Ellen @ their dinner. OMG…I would love to come to this dinner also…

I also love that your errand list both starts and ends with Target. I do the same thing!ReplyCancel

  • Jen - I just stumbled across your blog and I’m so glad I did! I love it! You kind of remind me of…well, me. (Is that freakishly, narcissistic?) Anyway, love your picks for dinner…I agree with all of them. I’d also add Emma Stone. I have a weird girl crush on her lately, love her sense of humor.

Stop by sometime! I’m a pretty new blogger and love getting visitors besides my mom. ๐Ÿ™‚ReplyCancel

  • birchandlace - i just found your blog a few weeks ago and am SO glad that i did. i love reading your hysterical posts and think your voice is so refreshing! not to be hugely creepy, but last week i read all of your posts late into the evening and giggled to myself. (ok, i’ll admit, that’s pretty creepy). also, i love ellen, so this post is one of my faves…
    onto my dinner guests:
    ellen, obviously.
beyonce & jay-z (because in my world, they come as a pair. and ok, they can bring blue ivy if they want.)
jenna marbles (youtube queen. if you haven’t heard of her, i highly suggest tuning in. she can be a bit crude and vulgar, but is mostly just very very funny.)

thanks for keeping my highly entertained,

Let me be clear about something right off the bat.Exercising – running, walking briskly, pretty much any form of sport and anything that makes you sweat – is definitely not my favorite. But because I want to keep the blood moving through this old bod, so I don’t have to lie to my doctor when he […]

It’s here. The end-of-summer-I’m-depressed post. I warned you. • Carolyn - Oh man. HAHA You pretty much hit the nail on the head with this one. ๐Ÿ™‚ I am born and raised in Minnesota, and I still get like this every winter!! • Sam @ - i’m not even in a state that gets that cold but i still totally agree with these seasons. i wish i could hibernate through the winter…ReplyCancel

  • Cassandra - I live in Maine and the cycle of seasons/moods is exactly the same. I can handle the winter before Christmas when there is all that sparkle and cheer to distract me. I laughed at “my soul goes black”, because its so true. After the 25th its just bitter cold and I want to hid in my apartment under the covers. The first sign of spring is always a giant sigh of relief. I feel ya girl!ReplyCancel

I have been meaning to ask you (or maybe I did ask you and I totally forgot)…how did you like the 5.5 year age difference in your kids when they were younger? We are definitely waiting a little bit longer and people are always just appalled, telling me that I will absolutely regret such a big age gap…(and yes, I am aware the second half of my comment has NOTHING to do with your post. Sorry!)
