Let me be clear about something right off the bat.Exercising – running, walking briskly, pretty much any form of sport and anything that makes you sweat – is definitely not my favorite. But because I want to keep the blood moving through this old bod, so I don’t have to lie to my doctor when he […]

  • Niken - ha, i’d love to do regular exercise on daily basis. running or just walking. but i never make a real effort for it.

that’s great of you to do it eventhough you hate itReplyCancel

  • jeanne cummings - …too good….& hey you had some real dance moves in the 80s!!ReplyCancel

  • The Management - haha, your motivation pictures crack me up. Love the honesty!

Seriously, though? muskrats are terrifying. RUN AWAY.ReplyCancel

  • Carolyn - Love this!! 🙂 Your motivation and my motivation look alike. Just add a cheeseburger to mine. HAHAReplyCancel

  • Sally - Take On Me? I think I beat my 14 and 22 year olds on that one… sometime I will tell you which song from Just Dance II that my daughters are going to perform at my funeral… we have a plan!ReplyCancel

It’s here. The end-of-summer-I’m-depressed post. I warned you. I spend 5 months every year literally counting down the days until June and then I blink and it’s the end of August and I can see the demonic eyes of winter staring at me menacingly through the subtly changing leaves which he’s using to try to […]

  • Carolyn - Oh man. HAHA You pretty much hit the nail on the head with this one. 🙂 I am born and raised in Minnesota, and I still get like this every winter!! Last year wasn’t bad, but when you have to think a winter wasn’t “too bad”, there’s something wrong! HAHA here’s hoping we both make it!! 🙂ReplyCancel

  • ~Dawn~ - LOL I’m another born and raised Minnesotan and agree with Carolyn – you hit the nail on the head. I am savoring the rest of summer and praying to GOD that we have another mild winter like we did last year!ReplyCancel

  • The Queen Bee - “and then my soul turns black”……<3 it.

  • The Management - haaah, yeah, alcohol sure helps when the weather is crapola…ReplyCancel

  • Kati - Incorporating Color - Haha, LOOOVE it. In 2008 at my senior prom in early May, it definitely snowed. I had to wear a winter coat over my prom dress. :/ReplyCancel

  • Sam @ reddyorknot.blogspot.com - i’m not even in a state that gets that cold but i still totally agree with these seasons. i wish i could hibernate through the winter…ReplyCancel

  • Cassandra - I live in Maine and the cycle of seasons/moods is exactly the same. I can handle the winter before Christmas when there is all that sparkle and cheer to distract me. I laughed at “my soul goes black”, because its so true. After the 25th its just bitter cold and I want to hid in my apartment under the covers. The first sign of spring is always a giant sigh of relief. I feel ya girl!ReplyCancel

  • Sally - Now I’m depressed… because, that is exactly how it is… and it is on its way. Damn.ReplyCancel

  • Nicole Blazey - Check out “books and bars”, it picks up in the winter just for people like us…that need drinks and a reason to get out of the house. 🙂ReplyCancel

  • Friday Favorites – Kickin’ it old school » You're My Favorite Today - […] I stop drinking Chardonnay, it just means I stop drinking so much of it in the winter when I start mainlining red wine to help get me through the pain and suffering…and because it goes so much better with […]ReplyCancel

The other night Husband and I watched the movie, “Friends with Kids”. Have you seen it?Cute movie – predictable – it won’t ever be on my favorites list, but definitely a solid movie with a fabulous cast and more than a few “huh” moments. The premise is how having kids changes your relationships – with […]

  • Kristen - Hahaha this is classic! New follower of your blog and loving it!

  • Nikki - Haha I love this! I also love that you call them Thing 1 & Thing 2, my mom calls me & my brother that too, or “A” & “B” because we’re twins.ReplyCancel

  • Amber - Whew, parenting sounds exhausting, haha!

    Thanks for linking up!! 🙂ReplyCancel

  • Carolyn - OH MY GOSH! I love this post! 🙂 It makes me feel so much better to know that the crap will happen, but the kids will still turn out! HAHAReplyCancel

  • ~Dawn~ - hahaha…hilarious. I may or may not have had more than one of those things happen to me before, too. Eeek…at least I know I’m not alone. 🙂ReplyCancel

  • Becky - haha, I love this post! Mama-to-be in November for the first time and I can’t wait to some day look back on stories like these and know that everything does turn out ok.ReplyCancel

  • kyna... - OMG Michelle, I am LAUGHING so hard!!! AND feeling so much better about myself and the times I have “lost it” with Ellie too…I mean…yes, I have definitely tried to out scream her in my desperate frustration!

I have been meaning to ask you (or maybe I did ask you and I totally forgot)…how did you like the 5.5 year age difference in your kids when they were younger? We are definitely waiting a little bit longer and people are always just appalled, telling me that I will absolutely regret such a big age gap…(and yes, I am aware the second half of my comment has NOTHING to do with your post. Sorry!)

    ♥ Kyna

  • Alisa Marie - I’ve been wanting to see Friends with Kids, but my husband refuses to let me watch it! I guess I will have to watch it when he’s not around 🙂 New Follower!ReplyCancel

  • Meagan - This is hilarious! My favorite is the Lucky Charms shakedown. I will totally be that mama!ReplyCancel

  • Niken - i just found your blog and i’m glad i did.
you make my day! that’s all i wanna say for nowReplyCancel

  • Teri - Wow you can’t even tell her arm was anywhere but where it should be! And look no scar from you bashing your darling in the head with a heavy wooden angel! BONUS!!! You’ve got my vote fer shure.ReplyCancel

  • Sparkling - I can’t believe you brought the wooden angel with you!!! And it’s totally ok that you popped out her elbow and stopped for fries when she was asleep- except that BK wouldn’t ever be able to make fries like McDonald’s. What were you thinking???? I love the Lucky Charms stand off.ReplyCancel

  • Funny Is Family - I loved this post so much. Which of you had the balls to suggest the BK detour, you or your husband? So funny!

  • Nicole Blazey - Lol, one of my dad’s finest moment revolved around sex eduction- literally when I was in high school, every time I left the house he would scream “just think of genital warts” hey it worked- i feared sex for a long time.ReplyCancel

Oh, thank god. Jennifer Aniston finally got engaged on Friday and now America can finally stop feeling sorry for her every time Brad and Angelina adopt another kid or buy another villa or just generally exist together. And frankly, I think she wins. That Justin Theroux isn’t too hard on the ol’ peepers. You gotta admit, though, […]

Another week of August gone? Another week closer to school starting? Hooray! Crraaaap. I know I know…there’s still 3 good weeks left, but I also know they’ll fly by faster than the swimmers who have to swim with Lochte now that they know that he pees in the Olympic Pool.  In all honesty, though, it’s about this […]

  • Mia @ The Chronicles of Chaos - Oh my goodness! This post made me laugh. I hate to tell you this, but your pictures make me want to visit MOA all the more! 😉ReplyCancel

  • Kati - Incorporating Color - HAHAHA, my mom and I have pictures from Glamour Shots back from like 1994. Excellent. Also gotta love MOA. My claim to fame is that I was there on opening day in 1992. I may have been in a stroller, but I was THERE! 🙂ReplyCancel

  • Carolyn - Oh the MOA. 🙂 Gotta love it.

    Cherry Berry is SO YUMMY!

That deck picture looks like heaven. Love!ReplyCancel

Every October, when I walk into Target and discover the Christmas decorations and supplies being set up next to the Halloween costumes (that have been there since late August), I get vocally perturbed at the overly ambitious marketers in America who once again, rush the holidays and trick us into feeling eternally behind, when it’s […]

  • Carolyn - I feel the same way, even if I don’t have kids! However… I do get excited when they start busting out the red and green. But that’s because I’m a crazy Christmas lady. 🙂ReplyCancel

  • Mrs. Newlywed Giggles - The composition books!!! wHy oh why didn’t we have those when I was in school.ReplyCancel

  • Rachel - I love back to school supplies! I only bought one notebook this year and one planner, because that’s all I needed (though in reality between my husband and I, we don’t even own a pencil sharpener, so we could use one) but I love all the bright colors and designs. The new notebooks are definitely the best part about school. I was a bit disappointed this year that my husband said he didn’t need any notebooks or anything for grad school. 🙁 Of course, he’s probably only want boring ones if he did need them.ReplyCancel

  • ~Dawn~ - I was shocked when I went into Target the other day and saw EMPTY bins of school supplies. I quickly grabbed my daughters 2nd grade list and filled my cart – last year we were late getting her supplies and had to go to 3 different Targets and Walmart to complete the list.ReplyCancel

Is anyone else starting to get Olympic fatigue? Doesn’t it seem like it’s been on for like 2 or 12 weeks?I’m so damn exhausted from staying up until after midnight every night.  And that’s even with watching them on the DVR and fast-forwarding through the endless swimming semi-finals.  I keep getting confused and jumping up […]

  • Just Jinny - The Bloggess gives me hope that something AWESOME can come out of the sticks that is West Texas. She grew up about 10 minutes from where I grew up. You will never, ever know how sad I am that she and I did not know each other in our youth.ReplyCancel

This link-up is quickly starting to be my favorite. I seriously find myself mentally tagging things throughout the week to use in my “It’s OK” post. I find it a little like virtual therapy, being able to admit things I might not be proud of and that coffee cup with the big ‘thumbs up’ is […]

  • Carolyn - That dress is super cute!! 🙂 And don’t worry… you’re definitely not alone on the “do you drink?” question! HAHAReplyCancel

  • Rebekah Jo - Girl you just cracked me up!!! Too funny and I can so relate.

Stopping by from the link upReplyCancel

  • Kelly - Okay, that is TOO cute about your little one starting up 6th grade. Two of our friends’ daughters are starting 6th grade this year too and they are SOOO worried about their locker and getting to class on time too. I remember SLEEPLESS NIGHTS on my part because of these issues back when I was younger. Ahhh, young troubles 😉 “Just don’t tell my nurse…” Hahaha! It’s so true!ReplyCancel

  • Lauren @ Pink on the Cheek - ahhhh middle school. I felt like such a grown up, with lockers and schedules. I love it!!ReplyCancel

  • ~Dawn~ - hahaha – if it makes you feel any better, I ate a tub of hummas and a bag of pita chips last night too, all of it – all by myself.

I’m having a hard time with my little one going off to second grade – I can’t imagine how nuts-o I’m going to be when she has to deal with a locker combination and getting herself to and from class in 2-3 minutes. I will be having anxiety attacks non stop, I’m sure.ReplyCancel

  • Breanna - I found you through the linkup– so glad I did, ’cause each of your “It’s OKs” actually made me laugh!

Hope you’re having a great week!

Many of you know that I’m not a Minnesota native. In fact, when Husband broke it to me told me that he’d gotten a job offer here – 14 looonng years ago – I cried. And cried. And cried. (And I believe the words, “…if I had to list all 50 states in order of where […]

  • Carolyn - Went and read your Minnesota post… LOVE IT! HAHAHAHA Oh Glamour Shots. Why are they still in operation?!?!??!ReplyCancel

  • Kelly - Oh my. Arizona pretty much IS the opposite of Minnesota!! Moving from Kansas took some adjustment time too but I honestly LOVE it up here! When I got home to Kansas I pretty much DIIIIIIIIIIIIE from the heat and humidity; it’s ridiculous!ReplyCancel

  • Jenna - I read your Minnesota post and loved it! I am a born and raised Minnesotan, who currently resides in North Carolina. As much as I griped about the weather (really just winter) up there, I missed it this year. I have heard that it was a mild one, but dang it if Minnesota didn’t need to catch a break after that awful snowstorm/winter of 2010/2011.

I never once had Glamour Shots done. My parents thought it was a ridiculous amount of money to spend on playing dress up in pictures. I pouted but, in hindsight, I don’t have those pictures haunting me in my adults years. Win for me 🙂

    Have a beautiful day!ReplyCancel

I hope you’re wearing a hat.Because what I’m about to show you will blow. your. mind.4 of my major weaknesses – warm chocolate chip cookies, brownies, peanut butter and John Stamos (unfortunately, Stamos isn’t part of this recipe).
